    Cross-Border Hackathon 2nd Edition

    Digital Solutions for Renewable Energy

Context & Rationale

The Maghreb region faces increasing environmental challenges, making sustainable development and circular economy essential priorities. Digital technologies are key drivers to rethink production, consumption, and resource management.

In a regional context marked by growing concerns over resource scarcity and the urgent need for a transition toward more responsible economic models, digital innovation stands out as a major strategic lever. Following the successful pilot of the first edition held in Tunis in 2025, this second edition at the University of Batna 2 aims to transform these environmental challenges into technological opportunities. By mobilizing the collective intelligence of young talents from Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, the hackathon seeks to design impactful digital solutions dedicated to renewable energy and sustainable resource management.

Detailed Objectives

Promote Digital Innovation

Encourage the creation of concrete digital solutions (prototypes, applications, and platforms) that specifically address local environmental and energy issues.

Strengthen Regional Cooperation

Consolidate the cross-border academic partnership between the three nations, fostering a permanent network for knowledge sharing and collaborative innovation.

Empower Youth Entrepreneurship

Bridge the gap between academic theory and practice by equipping students with essential startup skills, including Business Model Canvas, Design Thinking, and Professional Pitching.

Foster Multidisciplinary Collaboration

Sustainable Impact

Contribute to the scientific and technological influence of the Maghreb by proving that regional youth are the primary drivers of the ecological and digital transition.

Regional Digital Transformation

Accelerate the adoption of Industry 4.0 standards across the Maghreb by showcasing how emerging tech can optimize regional production and waste management.

Strategic Vision (Perspectives)

"This initiative is more than a competition; it is a step toward building a sustainable Maghreb innovation ecosystem. By rotating the event among partner universities, we ensure a long-term commitment to regional development, allowing for the expansion of our partner network and the emergence of joint projects that contribute to the scientific and technological advancement of our region."
